Definition: Unemployed persons who quit or otherwise terminated their employment voluntarily and immediately began looking for work.

Job losers (Current Population Survey)

Definition: Unemployed persons who lost their last job or who had completed a temporary job. This includes persons who were on temporary layoff and counted as unemployed as well as persons not on temporary layoff. Among those not on temporary lay were Permanent job losers and those whose temporary jobs had ended.

Job opening (JOLTS)

Definition: A specific position of employment at an establishment; conditions include that there is work available for that position, the job could start within 30 days, and the employer is actively recruiting for the position (from JOLTS, the BLS Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey).
